Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring a TX or compact RN license and at least 1 year of relevant experience, with first-time travelers welcome to apply.
Details
Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit of a Short Term Acute Care hospital that is a Level II Trauma Center
Neuro Tele patient population including neurological and stepdown cases
Patient ratio of 1:4
Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Required to work 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
No on-call responsibilities
Floating required between units and potentially between sister facilities within the state
Requirements
Active TX or compact RN license required, must be in hand at submission
Current BLS certification required
Minimum of 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
Epic EMR experience required
Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level II experience preferred
Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team protocols
Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula and oxygen administration
Preferred experience with neurological/psychiatric conditions such as aneurysms, craniotomy, CVA, intracranial bleeds, pre/post neurosurgery, post-TPA care, seizure disorders, spinal cord injury, and substance withdrawal
Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last three years in a comparable specialty/setting
Additional Information
Provide comprehensive telemetry and medical/surgical nursing care to a neuro and cardiac patient population
Utilize isolation precautions and appropriate PPE as required
Dress code requires solid navy blue uniforms or scrub attire for licensed nursing personnel
Free parking available in designated employee/visitor surface lots
Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
Candidates should submit RTO requests upfront, as minimal RTO is preferred for a smooth scheduling process
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius may be accepted at a lower bill rate
Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
