Duties
Assist residents and patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper manual handling techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts.
Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, ensuring accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
Support medication administration processes under supervision, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality.
Observe and report any changes in health status or behavior, including signs of dementia or infectious disease symptoms, to nursing staff promptly.
Provide emotional support and companionship to residents with memory care needs or behavioral health conditions like Alzheimer's disease or other dementias.
Assist with patient transfers using safe transfer methods and equipment; ensure adherence to aseptic techniques during all procedures.
Maintain a clean and safe environment by following infection control protocols, proper disposal of medical waste, and adhering to safety practices for heavy lifting and safe patient handling.
Requirements
Current certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in good standing with relevant state licensing requirements.
Prior experience working in long-term care facilities, hospitals, assisted living communities, or home care environments is highly preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and basic life support (BLS/CPR).
Experience working with geriatric patients or individuals with disabilities such as developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs is advantageous.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper techniques; comfort with manual handling equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
Strong communication skills for caregiving interactions and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams while maintaining patient confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
