About This Position
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Post Partum Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized postpartum care for new mothers and their infants in,. This role offers an exciting opportunity to deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing services across diverse healthcare settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, and community health environments. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, excellent patient assessment skills, and a strong commitment to supporting maternal and neonatal health. As a Travel Post Partum RN, you will be instrumental in promoting recovery, educating families, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and comfort.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive postpartum assessments for mothers and newborns, including vital signs, physical examinations, and mental health evaluations.
Administer medications and treatments such as IV infusions, suturing, and wound care following aseptic techniques.
Educate new mothers on infant care practices including breastfeeding support, tube feeding, and neonatal resuscitation procedures.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams utilizing EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner to document patient progress accurately.
Manage acute pain and provide palliative care support tailored to individual patient needs within postpartum settings.
Assist with discharge planning by coordinating follow-up care, providing health coaching, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Respond promptly to emergencies such as hemorrhage or neonatal distress, utilizing critical care protocols including Level I/II trauma center procedures when necessary.
Support patients with complex needs including those with developmental disabilities or memory care requirements in various community or hospital environments.
Requirements
Valid RN license in the state of practice, or a temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for the current state of practice.
Must have a minimum of 1 recent year of Post Partum experience and 2 years of RN experience.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Ability to perform physical demands including standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, stretching, and lifting up to 75 pounds.
Adequate hearing and visual acuity, including color vision.
Fine motor skills and coordination for handling objects and assisting patients.
Proper body mechanics for patient transfers and ambulation.
Ability to communicate effectively via reading, writing, and speaking, both in person and on the telephone.
Familiarity with standard precautions due to exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
Ability to use a computer periodically.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
Professional nursing certification relevant to the specialty.
Additional related education and/or experience appropriate to the specialty area.
Demonstrated ongoing clinical competency, validated annually.
Experience in travel or registry nursing preferred.
