About This Position

The Ambulatory Clinic Sr Director is responsible for the strategic, administrative, operational, financial, and clinical oversight of multiple primary care clinics, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care. This role provides leadership and direction for clinic operations, oversees clinic leadership and staff, ensures regulatory compliance, manages budgets and organizational performance metrics, and collaborates with physicians and executive leadership to support strategic initiatives, operational excellence, organizational growth, and continuous quality improvement.

Professional Duties

Directs the administrative and clinical services for multiple primary care clinics and provides oversight of day-to-day office operations through clinic leadership, ensuring smooth patient flow, efficient service, and operational efficiency.

Plans, coordinates, implements, and monitors organizational projects and initiatives relating to operations, ensuring they are consistent with the strategic mission; collaborates with executive leadership on growth and expansion planning and leads operational planning and integration efforts during clinic expansions or acquisitions.

Ensures compliance with state and federal laws, professional and regulatory agency standards, and licensure requirements, including but not limited to HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, state medical board requirements, infection control, workplace safety, health system and Foundation policies, procedures, and protocols.

Understands and supports the business requirements and fiscal structure, including patient assignment, risk and specialty network structures, utilization management, and functions as a key resource for leaders, staff, and physicians in support of these requirements.

Assumes fiscal responsibility for areas of oversight, including budget preparation, expense control, revenue enhancement, budgeting, resource allocation, and financial oversight; develops business and operations plans for assigned areas, programs, and services in collaboration with leadership.

Establishes effective patient care processes and workflows in collaboration with other leaders; develops and implements improvements to clinic policies, procedures, and workflows to support the provision of quality, timely patient care services and operational efficiency across assigned ambulatory clinics.

Maintains appropriate quality control programs; evaluates clinical services, patient outcomes, and patient satisfaction; partners proactively with Risk, Quality, Safety, and Clinical Operations leadership to ensure continuous monitoring and improvement in the provision of clinical services.

Monitors key performance indicators, including call volumes, no-shows, patient satisfaction, patient utilization, access, productivity, and other operational metrics, and directs system and workflow improvements to support organizational growth and operational excellence.

Provides leadership, mentorship, and support to clinic leadership and clinical staff; identifies training needs, supports professional development, and demonstrates leadership to promote collaborative teamwork, cross-training, open communication, problem solving, and effective coordination and integration of services across operational areas and programs.

Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams including Physicians, APPs, Pharmacists, and executive and operational leaders to establish strategic direction, foster interdepartmental coordination, and ensure continuity and comprehensiveness of patient care.

Advocates for patient-centered care, resolves escalated patient concerns with empathy and efficiency, and demonstrates the consistent ability to promote, enhance, and support the organizational culture while serving as a leader for continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in nursing and graduation from an accredited nursing program required.

Current California RN License required.

5 years of management experience in a medical practice or healthcare setting 3 years of experience with electronic medical records required; preferably with EPIC

BLS required within 60 days of hire.

Deep familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.

Ability to utilize personal judgement and critical thinking to problem solve.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to effectively communicate with individuals within all levels of the organization, patients, patient family members, providers, vendors and others.

Detail oriented and organizational skills. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet established deadlines.

Current California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance required.

Physical Demands

Sitting: Approximately 60% of day.

Standing: Approximately > 20% of day.

Walking: Approximately > 20% of day.

Lifting: 0 - 20 lbs. (equipment, supplies) approximately >10% of day.

Bending: Approximately >10% of day. Kneeling < 5%.

Hearing/Visual Acuity: Adequate for use with computers, telephone and/or cellphone. Approximately 90% of day.

Computer: Highly technical work environment. Must be able to work minimum of 6 hours a day using keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Reaching: Above head 75 degrees approximately 10% of day.

Hand grip dexterity: Approximately 20% of day.
