About the Role
As a Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN), you'll provide expert nursing care and support for women throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. You'll closely monitor both mother and baby, assess labor progression, administer medications and treatments, assist during childbirth, and respond quickly to obstetric emergencies when needed.
Your specialized training and clinical expertise help ensure the safety and well-being of patients during one of the most important moments in their lives.
This role requires excellent assessment skills, strong clinical judgment, compassion, and the ability to remain calm in fast-paced, high-acuity environments.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor maternal and fetal well-being before, during, and after delivery
Assess labor progression and recognize complications requiring intervention
Administer medications, IV therapies, and pain management treatments
Monitor fetal heart tones and contraction patterns
Assist physicians, midwives, and healthcare teams during labor and delivery
Respond to obstetric emergencies and urgent maternal-newborn situations
Provide postpartum care and patient education
Support newborn stabilization and transition following birth
Educate patients and families on recovery, newborn care, and discharge planning
Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with hospital policies and standards
Minimum Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Current BLS certification
Current ACLS certification
Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
Strong maternal-child nursing assessment skills
Ability to work effectively in fast-paced labor and delivery settings
