About This Position

Now seeking Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our team
Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is a Registered Nurse responsible for supporting the Director of Nursing in overseeing the clinical operations of the skilled nursing facility. This leadership role ensures high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff supervision, and survey readiness. The ADON collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to maintain clinical excellence and uphold federal, state, and local standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Oversight

Assist the DON in planning, organizing, and directing nursing services.

Ensure nursing care meets resident needs in accordance with physician orders and care plans.

Monitor clinical documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

Conduct regular audits (medication, treatment, infection control, etc.).

Support quality improvement initiatives and performance improvement plans.

Regulatory Compliance & Survey Readiness

Maintain compliance with CMS and Wisconsin state regulations.

Participate in state survey preparation and response.

Ensure adherence to facility policies and procedures.

Monitor infection prevention practices and reporting.

Assist with incident investigations and corrective action plans.

Staffing & Supervision

Supervise nursing staff including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.

Assist with scheduling to ensure appropriate staffing coverage.

Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations.

Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of nursing staff.

Address attendance, performance, and conduct concerns in collaboration with HR.

Quality & Risk Management

Monitor clinical outcomes (falls, wounds, hospital readmissions, weight loss, etc.).

Participate in QAPI meetings and initiatives.

Assist with infection control tracking and prevention measures.

Ensure timely completion of assessments and documentation.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration

Participate in care plan meetings.

Communicate effectively with physicians, families, and external providers.

Support collaboration between nursing, therapy, dietary, and social services.

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Wisconsin – Required

Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience in long-term care or skilled nursing.

Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Strong knowledge of CMS regulations and long-term care standards.

Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Experience with electronic medical records (PCC preferred).
