About This Position

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) on a day shift schedule. This position offers an opportunity to provide exceptional patient care in a dynamic hospital environment, supporting recovery and stabilization for patients emerging from anesthesia.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive critical care experience, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a strong commitment to patient safety and quality outcomes. This role is essential in ensuring smooth postoperative recovery processes, facilitating efficient patient assessments, and delivering compassionate care across diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

Monitor and assess patients' vital signs, neurological status, and overall condition during recovery from anesthesia.

Administer medications, including pain management interventions, following prescribed protocols.

Utilize advanced clinical skills such as IV insertion, suturing, and aseptic technique to support patient needs.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health records (EHR/Epic/Cerner systems).

Manage airway equipment and ventilators as needed, ensuring optimal respiratory support.

Perform diagnostic evaluations, including laboratory specimen collection and processing.

Educate patients and their families regarding postoperative care instructions and recovery expectations.

Respond promptly to emergent situations utilizing critical care response procedures.

Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control standards throughout all activities.

Qualifications

Valid RN license with current state certification; BSN preferred.

Extensive critical care experience, including ICU or trauma center settings.

Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth.

Demonstrated expertise in advanced nursing procedures like IV infusion, tube feeding, and catheter care.

Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), medical terminology, and physiology principles.

Experience working in hospital environments with complex patient populations.

Strong assessment skills combined with the ability to prioritize effectively under pressure.

Excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration and patient education.

Ability to adapt quickly to new clinical environments while maintaining high standards of care.
