About This Position
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is responsible for providing high-quality patient care while supporting providers in a fast-paced urgent care environment. This position plays a vital role in ensuring efficient patient flow, delivering compassionate care, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting the overall operations of the clinic.
Duties and Responsibilities
Greet and room patients while providing exceptional customer service
Obtain and accurately document vital signs, chief complaint, allergies, medications, and medical history in the electronic medical record (Experity)
Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during exams and procedures
Perform CLIA-waived laboratory testing, specimen collection, EKGs, and other diagnostic procedures
Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments as permitted by licensure or certification
Educate patients regarding medications, treatment plans, follow-up care, and discharge instructions
Assist with occupational medicine services: drug screens, DOT services, and work-related injury evaluations
Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked exam rooms and clinical areas
Ensure all medical equipment is cleaned, maintained, and functioning properly
Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA, infection prevention, and all clinic policies and procedures
Accurately document all patient care and communications in the electronic medical record
Assist with inventory management and notify leadership when supplies need replenished
Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and assist providers during emergency situations
Collaborate with providers, nurses, front office, and leadership to provide efficient, high-quality patient care
Participate in staff meetings, required education, competency training, and quality improvement initiatives
Cross-train and assist in other clinic duties as assignedLicensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Nebraska Licensed Practical Nurse license (in good standing)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
Preferred Qualifications
One year of experience in urgent care, family practice, emergency medicine, or a similar setting preferred
Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills
Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment
Experience with electronic medical records, preferably Experity
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to safely assist patients with mobility as needed
Manual dexterity necessary to perform clinical procedures and operate medical equipment
