Location: Lincoln, NE

Service Line: Hillcrest Firethorn

Schedule: Part-Time Nights

Hillcrest Health & Living is looking for a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Nurse Tech to join our nursing team at Hillcrest Firethorn in Lincoln, NE.

Hillcrest Firethorn provides post-acute rehabilitation and skilled nursing services in a modern, hospitality-focused environment. Our team works together to provide high-quality care while helping guests and residents maintain dignity, independence, comfort, and quality of life.

At Hillcrest, our mission is simple: Inspiring people to live their best lives. As a Nurse Tech, you will play an important role in providing hands-on care, building meaningful relationships, and supporting guests and residents throughout the overnight hours.

What You’ll Do

As a Nurse Tech, you will work closely with nurses, Med Techs, and other care team members to provide personalized care and promptly communicate changes in a guest or resident’s condition.

You will:

Assist guests and residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene, and other activities of daily living.

Help guests and residents maintain independence by encouraging them to do as much as safely possible for themselves.

Respond to call lights promptly and help identify individual needs.

Assist with transfers, positioning, ambulation, and wheelchair transportation according to individualized care plans.

Obtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, and weight as directed.

Observe guests and residents for physical, behavioral, or emotional changes and promptly communicate concerns to the nurse.

Assist guests and residents with meals, snacks, hydration, and other dining needs as appropriate.

Change linens and help maintain clean, comfortable, and safe resident-care areas.

Follow individualized care plans and established clinical procedures throughout each shift.

Document personal care and other required information accurately and timely.

Communicate refusals of care, abnormal vital signs, and other concerns to the nurse.

Follow appropriate infection-control, safety, and resident-handling procedures.

Work collaboratively with nurses, Med Techs, therapy, culinary, and other team members to support quality care.

Help maintain a calm, safe, and comfortable overnight environment.

Build positive relationships with guests, residents, families, and coworkers through compassionate and respectful interactions.

Assist with additional resident-care and nursing-team needs as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, dependable, and genuinely enjoys working with aging adults.

The right candidate will understand that excellent care is about more than completing tasks. It is about noticing the small things, treating each person with dignity, communicating changes quickly, and helping guests and residents feel safe and supported throughout the night.

Ideal candidates will have:

A passion for providing hands-on care and supporting aging adults.

Previous experience as a Nurse Tech, CNA, nursing assistant, caregiver, or similar direct-care role preferred.

Experience in skilled nursing, post-acute rehabilitation, long-term care, assisted living, hospital, or a similar healthcare setting preferred.

Strong communication skills with guests, residents, families, nurses, and other team members.

Ability to recognize and promptly communicate changes in a guest or resident’s condition.

A compassionate and respectful approach to personal care.

Strong attention to detail with care plans, vital signs, documentation, and safety.

Dependability and consistent follow-through.

Ability to manage multiple resident needs while maintaining quality care.

A calm, flexible, and professional approach in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Comfort using electronic documentation systems and healthcare technology.

A team-first attitude and willingness to help wherever needed.

Education & Credentials

Active Certified Nursing Assistant certification in Nebraska required.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Basic Life Support CPR certification required or willingness to obtain within the required timeframe.

Previous experience providing personal care to aging adults in skilled nursing, long-term care, post-acute care, hospital, assisted living, or a similar setting preferred.

Why Hillcrest?

At Hillcrest Firethorn, Nurse Techs are an essential part of the nursing team and often spend more one-on-one time with guests and residents than anyone else.
