About This Position

Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) – Per Diem

Schedule: Per Diem – Day and Night Shifts Available
Shift Length: 8–12 Hour Shifts
Facility: Aurora Recovery Center – Substance Use Detoxification & Residential Treatment

Job Summary

Aurora Recovery Center is a substance use detoxification and residential treatment facility. The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is responsible for supporting the medical and nursing needs of clients throughout detoxification and residential treatment while maintaining safe, compassionate, and compliant care.

This is a per diem position with both day and night shifts available. Shifts range from 8 to 12 hours based on facility needs and scheduling availability.

Job Duties

Complete all nursing duties and required documentation in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Complete and document client safety rounds as required.

Conduct medication and controlled medication counts according to facility procedures.

Review the shift log at the beginning of each shift and complete required shift documentation and assigned tasks before the end of the shift.

Complete nursing admission procedures for new clients, including urine drug screening (UA), vital signs, comprehensive nursing assessments, and other required admission documentation.

Complete daily nursing progress notes and assessments.

Observe, administer, and document medications in accordance with provider orders and company policies.

Obtain and document blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and other required vital signs.

Complete CIWA, COWS, and polysubstance withdrawal assessments as indicated.

Complete daily nursing assessments for clients receiving detoxification services.

Monitor clients for changes in medical condition, withdrawal symptoms, medication response, and potential complications.

Communicate with physicians and other medical providers regarding client condition, withdrawal status, medication needs, and changes in clinical presentation.

Provide medication and health education to clients.

Refill and coordinate medications as needed.

Provide crisis intervention and promptly escalate medical or behavioral concerns when indicated.

Assist, educate, and supervise Behavioral Health Technicians regarding delegated or appropriate health-related responsibilities.

Communicate relevant client information during shift change and with members of the interdisciplinary treatment team.

Assist with medical and nursing needs for clients receiving services at residential and partial hospitalization locations.

Follow applicable DHCS, Joint Commission, facility, and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Current, active, and unencumbered LVN license in the State of California.

Current First Aid and CPR certification.

Knowledge of nursing practices, medication administration, documentation standards, and applicable healthcare regulations.

Ability to recognize and communicate changes in a client's medical or behavioral condition.

Knowledge of substance use disorders, withdrawal management, and evidence-based addiction treatment preferred.

Previous experience in detoxification, residential treatment, behavioral health, mental health, or substance use treatment preferred.

Experience utilizing EMR/EHR systems.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with clients, medical providers, administration, treatment team members, and families when appropriate.

Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work effectively with minimal supervision.

Ability to function independently while collaborating with an interdisciplinary treatment team.

Must meet facility health and employment requirements, which may include medical clearance and/or physical examination.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour
