Responsibilities
Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods
Monitor and document vital signs, health status, and behavioral changes to ensure timely communication with healthcare professionals
Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary restrictions and preferences while maintaining proper food safety standards
Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure accurate timing and dosage
Conduct patient observation to identify potential health concerns or safety hazards promptly
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces
Provide transportation assistance for medical appointments or community outings, ensuring client safety at all times
Support clients with specialized needs including Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, autism spectrum disorder support, developmental disabilities assistance, and neurodevelopmental disorders management
Qualifications
Proven experience working as a caregiver in home health, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or group homes with a focus on geriatrics or developmental disabilities
Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques and ability to recognize signs of medical emergencies or behavioral issues
Familiarity with care plans, medication administration protocols, and HIPAA regulations for patient privacy protection
Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications in hospice care or dementia care are advantageous
Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform manual handling tasks such as patient transfers using Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, healthcare teams, and social workers
Experience working with individuals with autism or intellectual disabilities is highly desirable
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for client outings or appointments
