About This Position
Job Summary -Work 2-3 days a week- (0630-1130)
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment team. The RN will play an essential role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals receiving Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including patients experiencing substance use disorders, mental health conditions, housing instability, and other complex healthcare needs. This position requires strong clinical assessment skills, professionalism, compassion, and the ability to work collaboratively with prescribing providers and the multidisciplinary treatment team.
Responsibilities
Dispense and administer medications used in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) in accordance with provider orders, organizational policies, and applicable regulations.
Administer Sublocade (extended-release buprenorphine) injections as ordered by the prescribing provider and in accordance with applicable requirements.
Conduct nursing assessments for patients being considered for buprenorphine induction and communicate findings to the prescribing provider.
Assess patients for signs and symptoms of opioid withdrawal and document findings using appropriate clinical assessment tools, including COWS, when indicated.
Monitor patients before, during, and after medication administration and promptly identify and report adverse reactions or changes in clinical condition.
Obtain vital signs and complete focused nursing assessments as clinically indicated.
Provide patient education regarding MAT medications, treatment expectations, medication adherence, overdose prevention, and recovery support.
Educate patients regarding Sublocade administration, potential side effects, follow-up requirements, and the importance of keeping scheduled appointments.
Coordinate closely with psychiatric providers, medical providers, SUD professionals, therapists, case managers, peer counselors, and other members of the treatment team.
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in the electronic health record.
Assist with medication inventory, storage, documentation, and reconciliation in accordance with organizational policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Support continuity of care by coordinating medication needs, follow-up appointments, referrals, and transitions between levels of care.
Maintain patient privacy, dignity, safety, and confidentiality at all times.
Respond appropriately to urgent clinical situations and follow established emergency protocols.
Participate in quality improvement, staff meetings, training, and other clinical activities as assigned.
Perform other nursing duties within the RN scope of practice as needed.
Qualifications
Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
Current BLS/CPR certification.
Experience in behavioral health, addiction medicine, MAT/MOUD, community health, correctional health, or a related setting preferred.
Experience working with buprenorphine and Sublocade preferred; training may be provided to qualified candidates.
Strong clinical assessment, communication, documentation, and patient-education skills.
Ability to work effectively with patients experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
