Position Overview
A leading Seattle hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Level IV NICU to join its neonatal intensive care team.
This is an opportunity to work within a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, providing highly specialized nursing care to critically ill and medically complex newborns.
The ideal candidate will bring strong neonatal nursing experience, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary care team while supporting infants and their families through complex and often challenging situations.
Key Responsibilities
Assess neonatal patients and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing plans of care.
Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill, premature, and medically complex newborns.
Continuously monitor patient condition and recognize and communicate changes in clinical status.
Coordinate care across the continuum to support optimal neonatal outcomes and transitions.
Administer treatments and medications in accordance with established clinical protocols and provider orders.
Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Advocate for infants and families while respecting their dignity, rights, values, beliefs, and cultural preferences.
Provide education, guidance, and emotional support to parents and family members.
Maintain all clinical competencies required for the NICU patient population.
Incorporate evidence-based practices and patient safety standards into daily nursing care.
Identify and respond appropriately to patient safety concerns and changes in acuity.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development.
Appropriately delegate and coordinate nursing care while working collaboratively with other members of the care team.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Active Washington State Registered Nurse license upon hire.
BLS certification through the American Heart Association upon hire.
NRP certification through the American Academy of Pediatrics upon hire.
Minimum 1 year of professional nursing experience.
Preferred Candidate Profile
The strongest candidates will have professional RN experience within a NICU or neonatal critical care environment, particularly experience caring for high-acuity or medically complex newborns.
Candidates should demonstrate:
Strong neonatal assessment and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to respond effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions.
Experience working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary care team.
Strong communication skills with both clinical colleagues and patient families.
Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety, and family-centered care.
Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity hospital environment.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: $50.80–$93.51 per hour, with placement within the range based on relevant experience, qualifications, and other applicable factors.
Additional compensation may be available, including applicable night-shift differentials, overtime, premiums, extra-shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.
Sign-On Bonus: Up to $15,000 for eligible rehires and external candidates who meet all applicable qualifications and conditions for payment.
