Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring at least 2 years of L&D experience and a TX or compact RN license in hand.
Details
Labor and Delivery unit within a Level II Pediatric Trauma Children's Hospital
Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Facility averages 100-200 births per month
Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2 depending on acuity
Weekend requirement of 6 shifts within a 6-week schedule
No floating between units required at this facility, though floating between sister facilities may be expected
No on-call requirements
Requirements
Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP
AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
Epic EMR experience preferred
Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, venous blood draws, and IV maintenance required
Experience with infusion pumps, drips, and IV monitoring required
Additional Information
Responsibilities include antepartum and high-risk antepartum care, labor and delivery management, and assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries
Circulate for C-sections and provide C-section recovery care
Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring, ID/security banding, and neonatal resuscitation
Manage medication administration including antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate therapy, and Pitocin
Provide care for high-risk conditions including HELLP syndrome, pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, placenta previa/abruption, preterm labor, and multiple gestation
Support VBAC management and trial of labor
Assist with surgical procedures including cervical cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation
Provide postpartum care for cesarean section, vaginal delivery, and postpartum hemorrhage patients
Utilize external and internal fetal monitoring and recognize abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
Perform obstetrical triage and sterile vaginal exams
Navy scrubs required for RNs
Free parking available on-site with bike racks
Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront prior to offer, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for standard travel rate
Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty or setting
