About This Position
Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery
Location: Bismarck, ND
Contract: 13 weeks with possible extension (BI02)
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Shift: Nights
Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts
Shift Length: 12 hours
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Weekends: Rotating weekends required
Holidays: Holiday coverage required
Some day shifts may be required
Required Experience
Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) nursing experience
Experience with:
Labor & Delivery
Postpartum / Mother & Baby
GYN nursing care
Fetal monitoring
High-risk pregnancy and delivery care
GYN surgical postoperative care
Must be comfortable caring for both mothers and newborns
Must be willing to assist in Newborn Nursery and NICU
Must be willing to work nights, some days, weekends, and holidays
Required Certifications
BLS / CPR
ACLS
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Preferred: STABLE certification
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care throughout labor and delivery
Care for high-risk L&D patients
Provide nursing care during deliveries
Perform and monitor fetal assessments
Provide postpartum care for mothers and newborns
Care for Mother/Baby couplets
Provide GYN postoperative nursing care
Monitor patients and recognize changes in clinical condition
Administer medications and treatments as ordered
Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Assist with patient care in the Newborn Nursery and NICU as needed
Patient Ratios
L&D: 1:1 or 1:2
Mother/Baby: 1:3 couplets
GYN: Approximately 1:4
Combined Mother/Baby & GYN: Approximately 1:5–1:6

Approximately 19 rooms

OBIX documentation and centralized L&D monitoring
Fetal monitoring equipment

Vital-sign monitoring equipment
Dress Code
Navy blue scrubs for GYN and Mother/Baby assignments
Hospital-provided scrubs may be used for L&D
