About This Position

Position Overview

  • Experience Required: 2+ years of L&D RN experience
  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted
  • Float Between Units: No
  • On-Call: No
  • Weekends: Yes — 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule
  • Block Schedule: No
  • Expected Patient Ratio: 1:1
  • 48 Hours: Approved
  • Charting: Epic preferred

  • RN Scrubs: Navy
  • RRT Scrubs: Galaxy Blue / Royal Blue

    Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • NRP
  • ACLS
  • AWHONN Intermediate — preferred

    IV Therapy & Medication Management

  • IV therapy / phlebotomy
  • Venous blood draws
  • Starting and maintaining IVs
  • Infusion pumps, drips, and IV monitoring
  • Administration of blood and blood products
  • Antihypertensives
  • Magnesium sulfate therapy
  • Pitocin / oxytocin

    Labor & Delivery

  • High-risk deliveries
  • Vaginal deliveries
  • C-section circulation
  • C-section recovery
  • Hemorrhage / shock management
  • Sterile vaginal examinations
  • Obstetrical triage
  • Antepartum care
  • High-risk antepartum care
  • Management of VBAC / trial of labor
  • Facility volume: approximately 100–200 births/month

    Fetal Monitoring

  • Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • External fetal monitoring (EFM)
  • Internal fetal monitoring
  • Fetal heart monitoring

    Neonatal Care

  • APGAR scoring
  • Baby Nurse / "Baby Catcher"
  • Infant identification and security banding
  • Neonatal resuscitation
  • Infant / neonatal arrest response

    Postpartum Care

  • Cesarean section recovery
  • Vaginal delivery recovery
  • Postpartum hemorrhage
  • Pain assessment and management

    Pain Management

  • Epidural anesthesia
  • General anesthesia
  • Nitrous oxide
  • IV PCA
  • Pain assessment and management

    High-Risk Patient Experience

    Experience caring for patients with:

  • Asthma
  • Cardiac disease
  • COVID
  • Diabetes mellitus
  • HELLP syndrome
  • HIV
  • Infectious disease
  • Malpresentations (breech / face / brow)
  • Multiple gestation
  • Neurological disease
  • Placenta previa / abruptio
  • Pre-eclampsia / eclampsia
  • Premature rupture of membranes (PROM)
  • Preterm labor
  • Rh incompatibilities
  • Seizure disorders
  • Substance abuse
  • Uterine rupture

    Surgical Procedures

  • Cervical cerclage
  • D&C
  • Tubal ligation

    Ideal Candidate

    The ideal candidate is an L&D Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience, strong fetal monitoring and obstetrical triage skills, and experience with high-risk pregnancies, vaginal deliveries, C-sections, postpartum care, and neonatal emergencies. First-time travelers are welcome. #LDNurse1

    Hemorrhage control assistance, Prenatal care, Obstetric surgery assistance experience, Heart rate monitoring, Pain medicine, Labor & delivery, NRP Certification, Asthma management, Prenatal ultrasound, Neonatal resuscitation procedures, Fetal monitoring, BLS Certification, Infectious disease care, High-risk pregnancy management, In-hospital emergency response experience, ACLS Certification, Monitoring and managing IVs, Working with individuals in post-surgery recovery, Collecting samples for laboratory testing, Experience working with cardiac care patients, Addiction medicine, Blood transfusion, HIV/AIDS care, Patient treatment, Neonates, Maternal monitoring, Diabetes care, Postpartum care guidelines, Cardiovascular medication administration
