About This Position

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Room Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients experiencing acute health crises across a diverse patient population. Your expertise will support rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment, ensuring optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in emergency medicine, critical care, and trauma response, demonstrating exceptional clinical judgment and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)

Special requirements: ACLS, PALS, BLS, NIHSS, TNCC; 2 years is a hardstop requirement

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough patient assessments including vital signs, medical history, and physical examinations to determine acuity levels and prioritize care.
  • Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform suturing with strict adherence to aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
  • Manage airway patency using ventilators and airway management techniques; operate emergency equipment such as defibrillators and monitors.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for diagnostic evaluations including laboratory tests, imaging procedures such as CT scans, and trauma assessments.
  • Provide acute pain management and palliative care support for patients with complex or chronic conditions.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Lead triage processes to prioritize incoming cases effectively; handle diverse cases including infectious disease care, trauma medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health, and patients with developmental disabilities.
  • Assist in discharge planning and patient education to ensure understanding of treatment plans post-emergency care.
  • Participate in infection control practices and maintain sterile processing standards during procedures requiring sterile technique.
  • Support critical care functions within Level I or Level II trauma centers; respond swiftly to emergency response procedures including neonatal resuscitation when required.

    Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current state licensure; additional certifications such as BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), or TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred.
  • Extensive emergency room experience within hospital settings; experience working in Level I or Level II trauma centers highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding is advantageous.
  • Critical care experience including ICU or PICU settings; knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and pharmacology relevant to emergency medicine.
  • Skills in IV insertion, venipuncture, specimen collection/processing, catheterization, ostomy care, and ventilator management.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental delays.
  • Strong communication skills coupled with the ability to remain calm under pressure in high-stakes situations.
  • Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation law applicable to occupational health emergencies; familiarity with hospice & palliative medicine principles is a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams while demonstrating excellent medical documentation practices.
