This historic North-Central Texas county seat sits right along Interstate 20, roughly a 2 hour drive west of Fort Worth. The community is globally famous for the bizarre 1920s legend of 'Ol' Rip,' a Texas horned lizard that allegedly survived for 31 years sealed inside the local courthouse cornerstone. Today, visitors can explore its red-brick downtown square, catch a movie at a restored 1920s oil-boom theater, and view a massive post office mural crafted entirely out of thousands of real postage stamps
