Job Description
We are seeking an experienced NICU Registered Nurse (RN) for a 26-week contract in Lubbock, TX. This is a Level IV NICU with approximately 43 beds and a daily census of 35 neonates.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of recent NICU experience, with Level III NICU experience strongly preferred. First-time travelers are welcome. (BI02)
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill and premature neonates.
Care for neonates across a broad range of acuity, including infants less than 28 weeks gestation.
Manage respiratory support including Bubble CPAP, HFNC, high-frequency ventilation, oscillators, and mechanical ventilation.
Administer neonatal medications, antibiotics/antivirals, surfactants, steroids, vasopressors, and emergency medications.
Manage UACs, UVCs, central lines, implanted lines, arterial lines, and IV access.
Provide neonatal feeding support including bottle, breast, and gavage feeding.
Monitor and manage conditions including respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, HIE, NEC, hyperbilirubinemia, and prematurity.
Perform APGAR scoring, developmental care, thermoregulation, blood glucose monitoring, phototherapy, and neonatal sepsis workups.
Support families through education, breastfeeding support, and ongoing communication.
Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team.
Float as needed to Pediatrics, PICU, or Pediatric ED within scope.
Required Qualifications
Active Texas RN license or compact RN license eligible to practice in Texas.
Minimum 2 years of NICU RN experience.
Level III NICU experience strongly preferred; experience caring for high-acuity neonates is highly desirable.
Experience with neonatal patients across different gestational ages and acuity levels.
Epic charting experience required.
Experience with a 1:2–4 patient ratio.
Strong neonatal assessment, medication administration, IV therapy, and critical-care skills.
Must be comfortable working in a Level IV NICU environment.

Block scheduling required
Weekends required: approximately 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period, with coverage varying based on self-scheduling
No call required
Float required to Pediatrics/PICU/Pediatric ED as needed
12 hours of orientation

Surgical conditions across multiple subspecialties, excluding cardiac case
Pay: $60.00 - $62.00 per hour
