Axis Medical Staffing is seeking experienced ER RNs for a 13 week travel assignment at a 35 bed acute care hospital in Spearfish, South Dakota. This role is built for a versatile nurse who can move confidently between the ER, ICU, and MedSurg based on patient needs. You will work with patients across all ages and need to be comfortable with both emergency and critical care.
Assignment Details
Specialty: Emergency Room RN
Location: Spearfish, SD
Shift: 12 hour variable
Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
Contract length: 13 weeks
Start date: October 5, 2026
Experience: Minimum 1.5 years
Setting: 35 bed acute care hospital
Floating: Required between ER, ICU, and MedSurg
Weekends: Every other
Holidays: Every other
Call: None
Orientation: 2 days
First time travelers: Accepted with 2 or more years of experience
What to Expect
This is not an ER only assignment. Travelers are utilized across the ER, ICU, and MedSurg areas, so flexibility is a core part of the role. The ER has 9 treatment spaces, the ICU has 4 beds, and MedSurg has 15 beds. Patient populations include sepsis, DKA, ETOH, ARDS, MI, trauma, and stroke. Typical ratios are 1:3 to 4 in the ER, 1:1 to 2 in ICU depending on acuity and age, and 1:5 in MedSurg depending on acuity and age.

General ER experience required
Critical care experience for ICU holds required

Travelers must live more than 100 miles from the facility
