About the Job
As a Travel NICU RN, you'll provide specialized nursing care to newborns who are premature, critically ill, recovering from surgery, or experiencing complex medical conditions requiring intensive monitoring and treatment.
NICU nurses are experts in neonatal care, supporting infants across a wide spectrum of needs ranging from life-saving interventions and advanced respiratory support to developmental care, feeding assistance, rehabilitation, and family education. You'll continuously monitor vital signs, respiratory status, neurological function, and overall condition while implementing specialized treatment plans designed to help fragile newborns thrive.
Working alongside neonatologists, respiratory therapists, pediatric specialists, nurse practitioners, and interdisciplinary care teams, you'll play a vital role in achieving positive outcomes for infants and providing compassionate support to families during some of their most challenging moments.

What You'll Do
Provide specialized nursing care for premature and critically ill newborns
Perform comprehensive neonatal assessments and ongoing evaluations
Monitor heart rate, oxygen saturation, respiratory status, blood pressure, and neurological responses
Administer medications, IV therapies, nutritional support, blood products, and specialized neonatal treatments
Assist with ventilator management, CPAP, oxygen therapy, and advanced respiratory support
Recognize and respond quickly to changes in infant condition
Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatric specialists, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Support feeding progression, developmental care, and neonatal rehabilitation initiatives
Educate and support parents and family members throughout hospitalization and discharge planning
Assist with neonatal resuscitation and emergency interventions when needed
Maintain accurate documentation within Epic, Cerner, and other EMR/EHR systems
Follow evidence-based neonatal care practices, infection prevention standards, and hospital protocols
Minimum Qualifications
2+ years of recent NICU nursing experience required
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Current BLS certification
Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
ACLS and/or PALS certification as required by facility
Strong neonatal assessment and critical care nursing skills
Experience caring for premature and medically complex infants
Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-acuity neonatal environments
Excellent communication, critical-thinking, and family-centered care skills
