American Traveler is hiring a PICU RN for a 13-week travel assignment at a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, requiring at least 1 year of PICU experience and a TX or compact RN license in hand.
Work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of a Children's Hospital and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center
Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM)
Patient ratio of 1:2
Self-scheduling required with 3 shifts per week, which may be consecutive or split
Variable weekend requirement
No on-call responsibilities
May float to Pediatric Med/Surg and NICU units
Epic EMR experience required
Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
BLS and PALS certifications required
Minimum 1 year of PICU experience required
Experience with 1:1-2 patient ratios
Skilled in ventilator management, ETT/NT suctioning, and care of ventilated patients
Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/PICC line care
Experience managing IV vasopressors and continuous sedation
Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
Provide direct care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU setting
Navy scrub color required for RNs

Candidates must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-offer requests may not be granted
Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the same health system
Experience
PICU experience, RN License, PALS Certification, Cardiac rhythm analysis, BLS Certification, Pediatric unit experience, Isolation techniques (health monitoring and safety measures), Working with pediatric populations, Airway suctioning, Mechanical ventilation monitoring, Personal protective equipment (PPE) adherence, Monitoring and managing IVs, Central Line Care, Pediatric critical & intensive care, Collecting samples for laboratory testing, Clinical information systems, Safety equipment, Patient sedation monitoring, Critical care experience, Procedural Sedation
