Summary of Work
Be a critical part of our efforts to transform lives, influence change and strengthen our community as an RN with the ND Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCR).
As a member of our medical team, you will work various shifts in an infirmary setting, providing a holistic approach to health care services to the male residents within a medium custody facility. The focus of your work will be on health maintenance and patient education. Every day you will:
Dispense medication
Provide emergency nursing care
Support infection control initiatives
Document patient care in the EHR system
Deliver individual and group wellness education
To be successful in this position, you must be willing to work with a resident population daily, demonstrating respect and dignity for all in your care. You connect easily with all kinds of people and can shift fluidly from task to task. You are interested in innovations in health care especially how it relates to a residential population. Also, you prefer to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Location: This position is located onsite at the James River Correctional Center in Jamestown (JRCC), North Dakota. JRCC is a medium custody facility that house male residents. The JRCC mission is to provide a safe environment to learn and practice skills necessary to be successful in the community.
Shift: The nursing team follows shift scheduling - mornings, evenings and nights. All members of the nursing team must be able to work holidays and weekends on a rotating basis.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must have the following:
Current licensure by the ND Board of Nursing
Strong clinical skills
Ability to work a variety of shifts including nights, holidays and weekends
Ability to complete successfully standard background, criminal record check, and drug screening
Psychiatric, medical surgical, and critical care experience is preferred, but not required.
