Responsibilities
Registered Nurse – Perianesthesia Essential Functions
Develops an individualized plan of care based on nursing assessment, medical diagnoses, and knowledge of specific illnesses, injuries, diseases, surgical procedures and appropriate standards of care
Collaborates with other disciplines to maximize patient outcomes and effect a smooth flow of the surgical experience
Plans and utilizes resources efficiently to complete the daily schedule in a timely manner while providing safe and individualized patient care
Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of special needs for various age groups including pediatric, adult and geriatric when providing resources for the perioperative experience
Reassesses, evaluates, and revises the implementation of the plan of care to meet the changing needs of the patient.
Responds appropriately to changes in the patient’s condition and/or behavior
Provides emotional support and comfort for patients/family members
Completes appropriate portions of the patient record accurately and thoroughly
Demonstrates knowledge of and appropriately carries out the RN role unique to Perianesthesia practice
Requirements
Education & Licensing
Graduate of an NLN accredited school of registered nursing required
Current licensure as a RN in the State of WI or ability to obtain WI licensure prior to start date required
BLS, ACLS and PALS required – will provide upon hire
Certified Nurse – Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse and/or Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CPAN and/or CAPA) recommended
Experience
1 year of Critical Care, Telemetry Unit/Step Down Care, OR Perianesthesia experience in the last 3-5 years (Preop, Phase I, or Phase II) required
1 year of Intraprocedural GI OR pain procedure experience in the last 3-5 years preferred
