Responsibilities
Provide compassionate nursing care in a long-term care setting while supporting patient safety, comfort, communication, and continuity of care. Collaborate with the care team, observe patient needs, and document care accurately using the assigned charting system.
Requirements
- Active Alaska LPN/LVN license must be in hand
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience using any charting system
- Admission of patients
- Communication of patient status changes to the RN or MD
- Isolation precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Vital sign monitoring
- Ambulation
- Bathing, including sitz, tub, bed, and shower bathing
- Mouth care
- Blood glucose monitoring and testing
- Medication administration, including ear drops, eye drops, intramuscular (IM), subcutaneous (SQ), nasogastric (NG) tube or gastrostomy (G) tube, and oral medications
- Respiratory care using face masks, nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
- Feeding tube care and management
- Female and male Foley catheter insertion
- Long Term Acute Care (LTAC), rehabilitation, and skilled nursing facility or nursing home work settings
