Position summary

The Regional Director of Clinical Services leads clinical quality, regulatory compliance and nursing leadership across our skilled nursing facilities in Grand Island, Cozad and Scottsbluff. This leader is the senior clinical resource for each building's Director of Nursing and Administrator, ensuring residents receive safe, person-centered care that meets federal (CMS) and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) requirements.

The role combines hands-on facility support with regional strategy. The Regional Director travels regularly between all three communities to audit care, coach clinical teams, prepare for surveys and drive consistent standards across the region.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Clinical quality and resident care

Monitor clinical outcomes at each facility, including falls, pressure injuries, infections, weight loss, hospital readmissions and antipsychotic use.

Analyze CMS Quality Measures, Five-Star ratings and facility-level data; lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) plans to address trends.

Conduct routine clinical rounds, chart audits and care plan reviews.

Serve as a clinical resource for complex resident cases, changes in condition and care transitions.

Regulatory compliance and survey readiness

Ensure compliance with CMS Requirements of Participation, Nebraska DHHS regulations and company policies.

Conduct mock surveys and readiness reviews at each facility; support teams on-site during state and federal surveys.

Lead development and follow-up of Plans of Correction and monitor them for sustained compliance.

Oversee infection prevention and control programs, including outbreak response and reporting to public health authorities.

Leadership and staff development

Recruit, onboard, coach and evaluate Directors of Nursing in partnership with facility Administrators.

Build clinical leadership depth, including succession planning for nurse management.

Develop and deliver clinical education, competency programs and new-hire orientation content.

Support nurse staffing plans and retention efforts, especially in rural markets with limited labor pools.

Policy, systems and operations

Standardize clinical policies, procedures and documentation practices across all three facilities.

Partner with Administrators on clinical budgets, staffing ratios, agency use and supply costs.

Collaborate with medical directors, pharmacy consultants, therapy providers and hospital partners.

Report regional clinical performance, risks and initiatives to executive leadership.

Risk management

Review incidents, grievances and allegations of abuse or neglect; ensure timely investigation and reporting.

Identify clinical risk trends and lead corrective action.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory responsibilities

Directly supervises the Directors of Nursing at all three facilities, in a shared reporting relationship with each facility Administrator. Provides clinical direction to ADONs, Infection Preventionists, Staff Development Coordinators and nursing staff. Responsible for hiring input, performance evaluations, coaching and corrective action for direct reports.

Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience in long-term care or skilled nursing.

Demonstrated success leading survey preparation and Plans of Correction.

Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance.
