Requirements

• Experience: 2 years of RN experience
• Patient Ratio Experience: 1:3
• Charting System: Epic (required)
• Travel Experience: Yes (hardstop for first-time travel)
• Certifications: BLS, NRP

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality NICU nursing care for neonates across gestational ranges, including neonates < 24–28 weeks, 29–34 weeks, and > 34 weeks
• Deliver safe, timely care using strong clinical skills across common NICU procedures and therapies
• Support patient/family education and developmental care plans
• Perform required assessments, monitoring, and documentation in Epic
• Follow infection control practices, including Isolation Precautions/PPE and sepsis work-up protocols

NICU Skill Set (What You’ll Use on Shift)

• IV Therapy: starting and maintaining IVs; administration of blood & blood products; arterial line management; central line blood draw; central line/implanted line care
• Umbilical Access: UAC (Umbilical Artery Catheter) and UVC (Umbilical Vein Catheter)
• Medications/Emergency Meds: anti-seizure medications; antibiotics/antivirals; IV vasopressors; neonatal dosage calculations; steroids; surfactants
• Neurologic Care: assist with lumbar puncture; neonatal abstinence syndrome; seizure disorders; therapeutic hypothermia/cooling blanket
• Endocrine/Metabolic: blood glucose monitoring; hyperbilirubinemia; phototherapy
• Gastrointestinal: breastfeeding support/handling expressed breast milk; colostomy/ileostomy management/care; feedings (bottle, breast, gavage); NEC (necrotizing enterocolitis); placement/management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes; post abdominal surgery support
• Respiratory: Bubble CPAP; HFNC; high frequency ventilation; management of chest tubes; meconium aspiration; nitric oxide (iNo); oscillators; oxygen delivery systems; respiratory distress syndrome; suctioning (ETT/NT); tracheostomy care/management; ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
• Professional/Clinical: developmental care; patient/family teaching; phlebotomy; thermoregulation
• Cardiovascular: dysrhhythmia interpretation/management; invasive hemodynamic monitoring; pre-cardiac surgery support; telemetry/on-unit monitoring
• Infectious Disease: Isolation Precautions/PPE; neonatal sepsis; sepsis work-up
• NICU Work Settings: NICU III and NICU IV experience
