Requirements

  • Experience: 2 years of experience
  • Previous Charge Experience: Preferred
  • Charting System: Epic (Required)
  • Travel Experience: Not required
  • Certifications: BLS, NRP, PALS
  • Work Settings: NICU (required), PICU (required), PICU transport

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-acuity neonatal/pediatric nursing care during transport and in critical scenarios
  • Manage respiratory support and maintain airway care throughout transport
  • Support medication administration and emergency medication readiness, including pediatric dosing calculations
  • Perform IV therapy and support vascular access needs, including arterial line management and central line blood draw
  • Maintain infection control practices, including isolation precautions/PPE
  • Apply neurologic critical care protocols, including hypothermia protocol
  • Assess and respond to cardiovascular status, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Manage gastrointestinal support such as NG tube insertion/management
  • Provide urinary catheter insertion/management as needed
  • Maintain documentation using Epic charting standards
  • Deliver NICU transport and ground transport readiness and care

RN Skills You’ll Use

  • Respiratory: End-Tidal CO2 monitoring; BiPAP/CPAP management; care of ventilated patient; care/maintenance of acute airway; HFNC; interpretation of ABGs; management of chest tubes; suctioning (ETT, NT); tracheostomy care; ventilator management
  • Medications/Emergency Meds: Anti-seizure medications; continuous sedation; IV vasopressors; pediatric dosage calculations
  • IV Therapy/Phlebotomy: Arterial line management; central line blood draw; phlebotomy; starting and maintaining IVs
  • Infectious Disease: Hyperthermia management; isolation precautions/PPE
  • Neurologic: Hypothermia protocol
  • Cardiovascular: Interpretation of dysrhythmias; management of dysrhythmias
  • Gastrointestinal: NG tube insertion/management
  • Renal/GU: Urinary catheter insertion/management
  • Additional: NICU transport; ground transport
