Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for neuro stepdown patients and support post- and pre-operative workflows.
- Manage respiratory support, including BiPAP/CPAP and chest tubes using Emerson/PleurEvac.
- Support care for neurological and psychiatric conditions including craniotomy, CVA (cerebrovascular accident), spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury.
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias in coordination with the care team.
- Administer and monitor procedural sedation in accordance with established protocols.
- Document assessments and care using Epic.
- Maintain patient flow and clinical readiness in telemetry/neuro stepdown settings, supporting a typical patient ratio of 1:4–5.
Requirements
- 1 year of RN experience
- Patient ratio experience: 1:4–5
- Charting system: Epic (required)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- NIHSS certification
- Experience with neuro stepdown and telemetry work settings
- Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias
- Knowledge/experience managing BiPAP/CPAP and chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
- Ability to provide care for craniotomy, CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
- Experience with procedural sedation administration/monitoring
- Travel experience: not required
