About This Position

Join our team as a Registered Nurse specializing in NICU care in Spokane, WA. This 13-week travel/contract assignment offers guaranteed hours (36/week) on a Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00–07:00) and an hourly pay rate of $59.00–$70.00.

Position Details

Responsibilities

  • Provide IV therapy, including starting and maintaining IVs, central line blood draw, and central line/implanted line care

  • Support arterial line management and perform UAC (Umbilical Artery Catheter) and UVC (Umbilical Vein Catheter) care

  • Administer blood and blood products and manage related neonatal care

  • Prepare and administer neonatal emergency and medication therapies, including anti-seizure medications, antibiotics/antivirals, and IV vasopressors

  • Perform neonatal dosage calculations and support treatment using steroids, surfactants, and other neonatal medication plans

  • Assist with neurologic care needs, including lumbar puncture support, management of neonatal abstinence syndrome, seizure disorders, and therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket)

  • Manage endocrine/metabolic monitoring, including blood glucose monitoring, phototherapy for hyperbilirubinemia, and hyperbilirubinemia-related care

  • Support gastrointestinal care including breastfeeding support/handling of breast milk, feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), and care for colostomy/ileostomy patients

  • Provide care related to NEC (Necrotizing Enterocolitis), post-abdominal surgery needs, and placement/management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes

  • Support respiratory therapies, including Bubble CPAP, HFNC (High Flow Nasal Cannula), high frequency ventilation, and oxygen delivery systems

  • Manage chest tubes, meconium aspiration care, and therapy including nitric oxide (INo), oscillators, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)

  • Perform suctioning (ETT, NT) and provide tracheostomy care/management

  • Deliver developmental care, including patient/family teaching, thermoregulation support, and neonatal-focused bedside care

  • Support infection control practices including isolation precautions/PPE and neonatal sepsis care (sepsis work up)

  • Contribute to cardiovascular monitoring and management, including dysrhythmia interpretation/management, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, pre-cardiac surgery support, and telemetry monitoring on the unit

  • Support patient types including neonates <24–28 weeks, 29–34 weeks, and >34 weeks within NICU III/IV work settings

  • Perform phlebotomy as needed and apply professional skills for consistent NICU workflow

Requirements

  • Experience: 2 year(s) of RN experience

  • Patient Ratio Experience: 1:3

  • Charting: Epic required

  • Certifications: BLS

  • Certifications: NRP

  • Travel Experience: Travel experience required: No
