Responsibilities
Provide safe, organized nursing care for patients in a surgical telemetry environment while collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team. Monitor patient status, respond to changes, support procedures, administer treatments, and document care accurately.
Requirements
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Charting: Epic required
- IV therapy and phlebotomy: Accessing and managing ports, blood product administration, central line care and management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, and starting and maintaining IVs
- Work settings: Cardiac telemetry, MS/Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, and telemetry
- Respiratory care: Chest tubes including Emerson/PleurEvac, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and oxygen tanks
- Neurological care: CVA (cerebrovascular accident)
- Gastrointestinal care: Feeding tube care and management
- Medication management: Heparin protocols; manage cardiac drips without titration; manage vasoactive drips without titration; PCA; procedural sedation administration and monitoring; titrate cardiac drips; titrate vasoactive drips
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response: Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry unit monitoring, and remote telemetry monitoring
- Professional nursing skills: Isolation precautions/PPE, wound care, and wound vac management
- Endocrine and metabolic care: IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
- Cardiovascular care: Post-cardiac angiogram care, post-MI care, pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care, pre- and post-cardiac surgery care, sheath removal, and TR Band management
- Genitourinary and renal care: Pre- and post-hemodialysis management and renal failure care
- Plastics and surgical care: Surgical drains
- Additional cardiac surgery skills: Post-open-heart experience and sternal precautions following open-heart surgery

Experience
- At least 2 years of telemetry nursing experience required.
- Travel nursing experience required; candidates without travel experience will not be considered.
- Experience with a 1:4 patient ratio required.
- Teaching hospital experience preferred.
- Community hospital experience preferred.
- VAD and TAVR experience optional.
