Responsibilities
- Provide IV therapy and related patient care, including starting and maintaining IVs, drawing venous blood, and administering blood & blood products
- Maintain central lines (CVC / PICC) and use infusion pumps/drips with IV monitoring
- Provide cardiac monitoring and emergency care for adult, infant, and neonatal arrest scenarios, including Rapid Response/Code team support
- Support Labor and Delivery management, including high-risk delivery assistance, vaginal delivery assistance, and participation in C-section workflow (circulate for C-section and recover/scrub as applicable)
- Support procedures and interventions including amnioinfusion, sterile vaginal exam, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock response
- Deliver medication and administration support including anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, Pitocin (oxytocin), prostaglandins, and terbutaline
- Provide neonatal care in the delivery room, including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation support, ID/security banding, and radiant warmers/thermoregulation
- Perform antepartum care and procedures including sterile speculum exam, NST (Non Stress Tests), OCT (Oxytocin Challenge Tests), reflex checks/edema assessment/clonus, and obstetrical triage using EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring)
- Provide patient care across a broad obstetric population, including asthma, cardiac disease, COVID, diabetes mellitus, HELLP syndrome, HIV, infectious disease, malpresentations, multiple gestation, placenta previa/abruption, pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, premature rupture of membranes, preterm labor, RH incompatibilities, seizure disorder, substance abuse, uterine rupture, and VBAC management/trial of labor
- Provide postpartum care including bladder distension, cesarean section postpartum care, couplet care, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy induced hypertension, and vaginal delivery
- Support postpartum procedures such as breastfeeding/lactation support, episiotomy/incisional care, Foley catheter insertion/management, and fundus/lochia/perineum care
- Support postpartum wound and device care, including electric/manual breast pump use and wound assessment/care
- Assist with surgical case/procedures including cervical cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation
- Support newborn care including cord care, infant identification, newborn assessment, newborn hypoglycemia monitoring, and thermoregulation

- Patient ratio experience: 1:2
- Charting system: Epic (required)
- Travel experience required: No
- Labor and Delivery experience: with L&D experience, can function independently
- Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, FHM, NRP
