About This Position
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to provide expert care to cancer patients across various healthcare settings in Tennessee. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to work in diverse clinical environments, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, and specialized cancer centers, delivering compassionate, evidence-based nursing care. As a Travel Oncology RN, you will be instrumental in managing complex patient needs while enjoying the flexibility of travel assignments.
Requirements
Certification: Registered Nurse (RN)
Certifications: BLS, CHEMO (ONS/ONCC), NIHSS (can obtain after offer), ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Certification required
Minimum of 2 years current oncology infusion/chemotherapy experience and 2 years of RN experience
Chemotherapy/Infusion experience mandatory
Travel experience required
Knowledge and experience with ports/central lines, infusion pumps, chemotherapy administration, and related procedures
Skills in managing ports, central line care, blood draws, and specialized oncology procedures
Ability to manage and monitor chemotherapy, immunotherapy, supportive care medications, and clinical trials
Experience with infusion centers and outpatient oncology settings
Ability to float among multiple infusion centers across East TN (e.g., Oak Ridge, Maryville, Lenoir City, Downtown Knoxville, Sevierville, Morristown)
Active licensure (TN or compact license) in hand at time of submission; licensure not to expire within 45 days of start date
Proof of residency documents submitted within 48 hours of offer (mortgage/lease, utility bill)
Valid, non-expiring professional certifications as specified
Charting system experience preferred (Cerner experience preferred, not required)
Clear background with prior experience in community hospitals or similar settings
Experience in trauma level I or II, LTAC settings (not required)
Experience with specific cancers (e.g., Brain, Breast, Lung, Ovarian, Pancreatic, Liver, Kidney, Leukemia, Lymphoma, Melanoma, Multiple Myeloma, and other hematologic malignancies)
Experience in managing complications such as acute tumor lysis syndrome, extravasation injuries, hemorrhage, and other oncologic emergencies
Knowledge of complex patient management, including medication tolerance/dependence, side-effect recognition, and supportive care
Experience with outpatient management and post-surgical care
Strong patient and family education skills
Experience in handling cytotoxic spills and ensuring compliance with safety standards
Familiarity with clinical trials and investigational therapies
Experience with phlebotomy, PICC line care, and advanced oncology procedures
Experience working in infusion centers across multiple locations
Ability to adhere to floating policies and departmental protocols
