Job description:

Port Washington Post Acute is looking for a new Director of Nursing to join our team!

The Director of Nursing (DON) is a key leadership position within our healthcare organization, responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of nursing services and patient care. The DON plays a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective nursing care, while also contributing to the overall strategic goals and objectives of the healthcare facility. This position requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and administrative skills.

FUNCTIONAL DUTIES:

Provide visionary leadership to the nursing department, setting goals and strategies for achieving exceptional patient care.

Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.

Manage and allocate nursing resources, including staffing, budgeting, and equipment procurement.

Collaborate with other healthcare leaders to drive organizational goals and foster a culture of teamwork and excellence.

Clinical Oversight:

Ensure that nursing staff deliver high-quality care and adhere to established standards and guidelines.

Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes and nursing performance, making necessary improvements.

Implement and oversee quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and satisfaction.

Stay updated on advances in nursing practice and technology to facilitate evidence-based care.

Staff Development:

Train and mentor nursing staff, fostering professional growth and development.

Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to ensure a competent and motivated nursing team.

Promote ongoing education and certification for nursing staff to maintain and enhance skills.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and licensure requirements.

Prepare for and participate in regulatory inspections and surveys, addressing any deficiencies promptly.

Maintain accurate records and documentation to meet legal and regulatory obligations.

Patient Advocacy and Communication:

Serve as an advocate for patients, addressing their needs and concerns.

Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing information and support.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans and transitions.

REQUIREMENTS:

Experience: Several years of progressive nursing experience, including supervisory or managerial roles. Previous experience in healthcare leadership is highly desirable.

Licensure and Certification: Must maintain a valid RN license and stay current with any required certifications. Certification in Nursing Administration (CNA) or Nurse Executive (NE-BC) is often preferred.

Clinical Competence: In-depth knowledge of nursing practice, standards of care, and healthcare regulations. Strong clinical assessment and problem-solving skills.

Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership and management abilities, including effective communication, team-building, and decision-making.

Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with state and federal healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and quality improvement methodologies.

Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups of professionals, patients, and families.

Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing healthcare environments, technologies, and patient populations.

Ethical and Professional Conduct: Upholds ethical standards and maintains a professional demeanor at all times.

Computer Proficiency: Proficient in using healthcare management software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.

The Director of Nursing plays a vital role in shaping the nursing department’s success and ensuring the delivery of safe and compassionate patient care. This position demands a unique combination of clinical expertise, leadership acumen, and regulatory compliance knowledge to excel in the healthcare industry.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
