About This Position
Pediatrics 40-hour Medication Aide CMA 6:30pm-7:00am
The primary purpose of your job position is to assist in the administering of medications as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the attending physician, the nurse supervisor or charge nurse, and the Director of Clinical Services. The administration of medications shall be in accordance with established nursing standards, the policies, procedures, and practices of this facility, and the requirements of this state.
Essential Functions
Follow the policies and procedures of the facility governing the administering of medications to residents.
Note and report errors in the administration of medications.
Participate in Performance Improvement programs and any other facility committee or program which affects the medication pass and seeks to improve the performance and accuracy of the medication process.
Maintain and accurately document intake of enteral nutrition as ordered by the attending physician, following facility policies and procedures
Accurately measure, record, and report the vital signs of residents as it relates to medication administration.
Observe and verify that medication is ingested or applied as directed. Document any instance where prescribed medication is not administered, including reason(s) for refusal.
Ensure that no medication is administered without a written, signed, dated order
Verify the identity of the resident before administering the medication treatment.
Follow the facility’s procedures allowing residents to self-administer their medications.
Physical Demands
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 3 feet and able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 10 feet.
May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
This is a full-time position, 6:30pm-7:00am.
Required Education and Experience
Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with laws of this State.
Additional Qualifications
Must be a 40 hour Certified Medication Aide, having successfully completed a state approved training program and any necessary examination.
Must provide documentation of such certification upon application for the position.
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
