About This Position

DEPARTMENT: MEDICAL

JOB TITLE: REGISTERED NURSE/NURSING SUPERVISOR

REPORT TO: DIRECTOR OF NURSING

WAGE GRADE: EXEMPT

BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS EXPOSURE: HIGH RISK

BASIC FUNCTION/POSITION SUMMARY:

Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the overall operations of any and all nursing areas. This includes directing, supervising, coordinating and evaluating all activities of patient care. The Nursing Supervisor acts as a liaison between the Medical Assistant (s), Clinician (s), Clinic Manager and Administration.

The Nursing Supervisor shall possess demonstrated knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide and assure quality nursing and standards of care for the patient population as per Title 22, Chapter 7. Primary Care Clinics, Article 3. Section 75028. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of the patient as related to age, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements and to provide the care needed as described in the policies and procedure manual. Patient population serviced at Innercare are as follows:

· Infants (birth to 1 year)

· Children/Pediatrics (1-13 years)

· Adolescents (13-18 years)

· Adults (18-65 years)

· Geriatrics (65 years and over)

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Are as follows and are not intended to cover every single duty of the job:

1. Acts as a liaison between Medical Assistants, Clinicians, Clinic Manager and Administration.

2. Provides and /or coordinates the orientation and continuous education for the Medical Assistant staff.

3. Participates in the planning of the clinic budget in conjunction with Clinic Manager.

4. Knowledge and implementation of community-based, patient-centered medical home (PCMH) process with appropriate coordination of care.

5. Evaluates clinical care effectiveness.

6. Oversees the Medical Assistant staff with on-site supervision to ensure that patient-centered care is delivered effectively.

7. Monitors the effectiveness of services provided through the patient’s individualized plan of care and recommend changes based on evidenced-based guidelines.

8. Exhibits concerns for high standards in personnel:

· Reviews personnel records

· Keeps accurate personnel records of education of staff

· Evaluates priorities of patient care.

9. Maintains certification in Basic Life Support and other mandated and/or desirable areas.

10. Directs Medical Assistant staff in planning, implementing and evaluating the patient-centered care process.

11. Attends daily team meetings/huddles, as member of the health care team.

12. In conjunction with Administration ensures credentialing and/or certification files of staff are updated.

13. Adheres to Innercare standards, policies, procedures, goals and objectives.

14. Ability to navigate and use an electronic health record.

15. Meets professional requirements in a timely manner and is attentive to detail:

· Nursing schedule

· Personnel evaluations

· Clinic based CQI and QA Process

16. Takes the initiative to be innovative and creative to improve patient care and outcomes through staff development and the meeting of the identified needs. Demonstrates pro-active rather than re-active approach.

17. Persists in the leader ship role.

18. Responds positively to changing circumstances.

19. Manages equipment effectively:

· Evaluates supply orders

· Accounts for equipment function

20. Promotes a safe environment

21. Monitors time cards edits in a timely and prompt manner.

22. Exhibits concerns for high standards in personnel.

23. Ensures credentialing and /or certifications files of staff are updated.

24. Monitors and evaluates established Innercare policies, procedures and objectives.

25. Documents and counsels personnel problems.

26. Keeps Administration and Clinic Manager informed of major issues.

27. Engages in conflict resolution with positive results.

28. Uses effective communication and written skills.

29. Serves an ideal role model and display self-confidence in leadership role.

30. Provides a strong image as a leader and supports the Mission of the organization.

31. Shows effectiveness in the leadership role.

39. Conducts Medical Assistant staff meetings and attends required nursing staff meetings, participates in the planning and/or evaluation of patient care; provides recommendations as appropriate to enhance patient care.

40. Maintains high level of personal education standards utilizing current reference materials in the form of journals, text, reports, newsletters, manufacture’s information, policies, procedures, and standards, etc.

41. Acts as a liaison with local education and healthcare facilities.

42. Uses the English language proficiently by writing ability, speaking ability and creativity.

43. Displays concerns for image:

· Professional bearing

· Leadership role

44. Engages in emergency fire and disaster drills. Plans, implements, and evaluates training activities patients, staff as per policy with Clinic Manager.

45. Is punctual and prompt for work: (3 days in 30 days is excessive).

46. Policies and procedures for sick and unscheduled absences are followed.

47. Adheres to Innercare dress and grooming standards.

48. Completes in-service and health exams as required by Title 22.

49. Extends courtesy and congeniality.

50. Ensures confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Associate Degree in Registered Nursing and/or Baccalaureate in Nursing desirable.

2. Possession of current Registered Nurse License form the State of California

3. Current Basic life Support (BLS) certification.

4. Current certification in some area of the nursing profession is desirable.

5. Graduate of accredited College and/or University.

6. A minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience in acute care nursing.

7. Spanish/English ability a plus.

Pay: $115,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
