Infection Control Nurse:

The primary purpose of this job position is to plan, organize, develop, coordinate, and direct the Infection Control Program and its activities in accordance with current applicable federal, state, local standards, guidelines and regulations, established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Administrator or designee to assure that an effective infection control program is maintained at all times.

Infection Control Coordinator key responsibilities:

Plan, develop, organize, implement, coordinate, and direct the infection control program in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care/subacute facility.

Ensure that the facility is in compliance with current CDC, OSHA, and local regulations concerning infection control, universal precautions, and COVID-19 regulations.

Develop, maintain, and periodically update infection control precautions and aseptic technique that successfully correct problem areas.

Monitor infection control practices and procedures to ensure that all personnel are implementing our standard operating procedures for tasks involving exposure to blood/body fluids.

Make rounds to nursing units for the purpose of case findings, review of environmental sanitation procedures, and supervision of isolation precautions/practices.

Infection Control Coordinator Requirements:

Must possess a current, active nursing license (RN or LPN) to practice in Nebraska.

Must have a minimum of one (1) year clinical experience in hospital, long-term care facility, or other related healthcare facility.

Must possess a working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic technique to include universal precautions.

APIL Certification in infection control preferred, but not necessary.
