Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Stepdown/PCU position requiring 2+ years of telemetry experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
Work in the Cardiac Stepdown/PCU unit of a hospital
Care for patients with MI, primary arrhythmias, pre/post open-heart surgery, vascular surgery, coronary artery disease, heart failure, pre/post cath lab, and cardiac-involved stroke
Specialized structural heart support including VAD and TAVR patients
Patient ratio is 1:4, up to 1:5 at midnight
Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM
Every other weekend required
Floating required to like units within the facility and sister facilities in the state
Perform chest tube setup/care, trach care, sternal precautions, blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, and epicardial pacer management
Manage LVAD and open-heart patients 24-28 hours post-op
Perform telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
Requirements
Active WA state or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
Minimum 2 years of surgical telemetry experience required
Experience with open heart surgery and vascular/groin radial band management required
Prior travel nursing experience required
IV therapy skills including starting/maintaining IVs and central line/PICC line management required
Epic EMR experience required
Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
VAD and TAVR experience preferred
Additional Information
Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront with minimal requests to avoid delays
Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required, including charge RNs or leads
First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
Former Providence permanent employees must wait at least 3 months and reside outside a 50-mile radius before returning as a travel candidate
Candidates residing within 50 miles may be considered as local hires at a lower bill rate
Floating to sister facilities within the state may be required as part of the assignment
