About This Position
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to provide expert infusion therapy services across various healthcare settings in Knoxville, Tennessee. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical experience, a strong understanding of infusion procedures, and the ability to deliver compassionate patient care in diverse environments. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in dynamic settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, and home care, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through precise and personalized infusion treatments.
Duties
Administer intravenous (IV) infusions, including antibiotics, chemotherapy, hydration, and pain management therapies, adhering to strict aseptic techniques.
Monitor patient responses during infusion procedures, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure safety and comfort.
Educate patients and their families on infusion processes, potential side effects, and post-treatment care instructions.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans tailored to each patient's medical needs.
Maintain accurate medical documentation of treatments administered, patient assessments, and response evaluations within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments prior to infusion therapy to evaluate vascular access sites and overall health status.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA standards and infection control protocols while maintaining a sterile environment.
Requirements
BLS certification
Chemo (ONS/ONCC) certification
NIHSS certification (can be obtained after offer)
Minimum 2 years of current infusion/chemotherapy experience and 2 years RN experience
Chemotherapy administration experience
Experience with ports and central lines, including care and management
Ability to administer blood, blood products, chemotherapy, and coagulation factors
Knowledge of infusion pump management and IV push administration of chemotherapy and narcotics
Experience with patient and family education and support
Phlebotomy skills
Recognition and management of side effects of chemotherapy
Ability to recognize abnormal lab values
Starting and maintaining IVs
Knowledge of neutropenic precautions
Skills in wound care and tracheostomy care/management
Experience with outpatient oncology units
Experience working with adult and geriatric patient populations
Knowledge of various cancers including breast, lung, colorectal, ovarian, prostate, liver, kidney, melanoma, leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, pancreatic, uterine, and ovarian cancers
Charting system experience (Cerner preferred)
Community hospital experience
Travel infusion experience
Experience with supportive care medications (hydration, electrolytes, iron infusions, injections)
Experience with clinical trials
Ability to work at multiple infusion centers across multiple locations in East TN
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
