Position: Forensic Nurse Examiner
Train as a Forensic Nurse Examiner and take care of sexual assault victim-survivors in Barron, Pierce, Polk, Rusk, and St. Croix counties in Western Wisconsin, and Goodhue County, Minnesota. You must be able to respond to one of our eleven care partner hospitals or three community-based exam sites within 90 minutes, and be a licensed RN in Wisconsin and in some cases in Minnesota.
The 40 hour seminar teaches RN’s the key components and skills necessary to provide effective healthcare and services to the adult and adolescent survivor victims of sexual assault. This course provides in-depth knowledge on the role of the SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner), including forensic evidence collection, documentation and testifying in court. Course material will also focus on the psychological dynamics of sexual assault, including care of both male and female survivor victims. Participants will learn how to collaborate with other key team members, i.e. advocates, crisis counselors, police and district attorneys.
Hours of on call: A minimum of 64 hours per month, to include 16 hours of weekend call.
Occasional holidays.
Staff meetings: Meet four times per year from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Compensation: $400.00-$450.00/client $4.00/hr on call.
