Duties
Deliver comprehensive pediatric nursing care, including patient assessment, vital signs monitoring, and physiological evaluations.
Administer medications, injections, IV therapies, and emergency treatments following established protocols and safety standards.
Maintain accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
Respond swiftly to medical emergencies using CPR, AED operation, and acute care procedures; coordinate with emergency response teams when necessary.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to explain treatment plans, answer questions, and provide health education tailored to pediatric needs.
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals in inpatient, outpatient, clinic, or school-based settings to deliver seamless patient care.
Adhere strictly to hospital policies, health regulations, and nursing practice acts while maintaining high standards of safety during manual handling and patient mobility activities.
Skills
Proven experience in Level I or Level II trauma centers, emergency medicine, or critical care units such as PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit).
Strong background in hospital medicine, medical-surgical nursing, or outpatient/clinic environments including school clinics and urgent care settings.
Expertise in infectious disease care, acute pediatric conditions, and post-acute or sub-acute care environments.
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for accurate medical records management; familiarity with health regulations compliance like HIPAA is essential.
Skilled in IV insertion, venipuncture, medication administration, and basic life support (BLS) certification; CPR certification required.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to pediatrics; ability to perform patient assessments accurately and efficiently.
Excellent communication skills for parent education and interprofessional collaboration; ability to handle medical emergencies confidently.
Demonstrated understanding of nursing policies aligned with State Board of Nursing standards and the State Nursing Practice Acts.
