Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Location: Waupun, WI (Waterfront parks, Lake Winnebago, and Fox River!)
Contract length: 26 weeks
Hours: Multiple shifts available!
Hourly rate: $40/hr
Job Overview
We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide safe, respectful nursing care in a correctional setting. You will support patients with varied health needs, respond to urgent concerns, and work with the care team to maintain continuity of care. This role calls for sound clinical judgment, clear communication, and consistent attention to privacy and safety.
Duties
Conduct patient assessments, obtain vital signs, support triage, and report changes in condition to the appropriate clinician.
Administer medications and treatments as authorized, including injections and IV infusion when within scope and facility protocols.
Provide routine nursing care, first aid, catheter care, and acute pain management; assist with intake and follow-up care.
Document care accurately in electronic medical records (EMR), follow Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements, and uphold clinical confidentiality policies.
Coordinate with the healthcare team on care plans, referrals, infection control, and patient education. Your impact: Timely assessment and clear documentation help patients receive appropriate care and support safer clinical decisions.
Requirements
Current, applicable LPN licensure and ability to meet facility and jurisdictional requirements.
Nursing experience in a correctional, acute care, medical-surgical, emergency, or long-term care setting is relevant; correctional experience is an asset.
Demonstrated skills in patient care, medication administration, patient assessment, medical documentation, and infection control.
Basic life support (BLS) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) knowledge; maintain any required credentials for the role.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and safe communication with patients and colleagues.
Pay: $40.00 per hour
