Join Our Team as a Registered Nurse – NICU RN (Night Shift) in Spokane, WA

Shift/Schedule
- Night Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in a NICU setting
- Proven ability to maintain a patient ratio of 1:3
- Proficient in Epic charting system (required)
- Current certifications in BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Expertise in IV therapy and related procedures including:
- Administration of blood and blood products
- Arterial line management
- Central line blood draws and care
- Starting and maintaining IVs
- Umbilical artery (UAC) and vein catheter (UVC) management
- Experience with medications and emergency meds including:
- Anti-seizure medications
- Antibiotics/antivirals
- IV vasopressors
- Neonatal dosage calculations
- Steroids and surfactants
- Neurologic care skills such as assisting with lumbar puncture, managing neonatal abstinence syndrome, seizure disorders, and therapeutic hypothermia
- Proficient in endocrine/metabolic care including blood glucose monitoring, hyperbilirubinemia management, and phototherapy
- Strong gastrointestinal care skills for feeding support, colostomy/ileostomy care, NEC management, and tube placement
- Advanced respiratory care skills, including management of Bubble CPAP, HFNC, high frequency ventilation, chest tubes, nitric oxide, oscillators, oxygen delivery systems, suctioning, tracheostomy care, and ventilator management
- Competence in cardiovascular monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, telemetry, and pre-cardiac surgery care
- Infectious disease control expertise, including isolation precautions, neonatal sepsis, and sepsis work-up
- Familiarity with caring for neonates ranging from <24–28 weeks, 29–34 weeks, and >34 weeks gestation
- Experience working in NICU III or NICU IV level units
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonates in the NICU, adhering to established protocols and best practices
- Monitor and manage complex IV lines, medications, ventilators, and life support equipment
- Perform advanced clinical procedures such as lumbar punctures and central line blood draws with precision and safety
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Provide education and support to families, fostering understanding of their infant’s condition and care needs
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation utilizing the Epic charting system
- Ensure adherence to infection control standards and utilize appropriate isolation precautions
- Support developmental care practices tailored for neonatal patients
- Participate in ongoing professional development and stay current with neonatal nursing best practices
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Washington
- Minimum 2 years of NICU nursing experience with demonstrated proficiency in managing neonatal patient care
- Certification in BLS and NRP required
- Strong clinical knowledge of NICU patient care standards and specialized neonatal equipment
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to compassionate, family-centered care and patient advocacy
