Join our team as a Registered Nurse (RN - General) for an OR RN travel/contract assignment in Santa Rosa, CA. This 13-week Night shift role offers guaranteed 36 hours/week and the opportunity to support a fast-paced Surgical Services environment with a strong focus on patient safety and readiness.

Requirements

  • Experience: 3+ years required (prefers 5)
  • Charting System: Required — Epic
  • Trauma Level I Experience: Required
  • Travel Experience: Required
  • Certifications: BLS
  • Core OR/Service Setting: Ambulatory OR required; General OR; Trauma
  • Required Trauma Exposure: Amputations; Gunshot/stab wounds; MVA (multiple injuries)
  • Required Equipment/Instrumentation/Supplies: Cell saver and Hana Table
  • Robotics: Da Vinci Xi Surgical System required; Gastrointestinal robotic surgery required; Urologic robotic surgery required
  • Thoracic: VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery) required

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the Operating Room.
  • Prepare for cases and maintain readiness across a wide range of procedures.
  • Demonstrate competency with universal protocol (time out) and specimen handling/labeling.
  • Support infection control practices and maintain awareness of safety protocols (including laser and radiation safety as applicable).
  • Administer blood and blood products per unit protocols when required.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations (including code response and fire safety) according to facility procedures.
  • Follow equipment and instrumentation practices, including electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords.
  • Maintain compliance with team-based perioperative workflows across general, trauma, and specialty cases.

  • Vascular: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair; Arteriovenous fistula repair; Carotid angioplasty; Carotid artery stenting; Carotid Endarterectomy; Femoral popliteal bypass graft
  • Gynecology: Abdominal/ Vaginal hysterectomy (required); Anterior/Posterior Repair (Colporrhaphy) (required); Dilation & Curettage (required)
  • Plastics: Abdominoplasty; Breast augmentation; Free Flap - Microvascular; Mastectomy with tram flap reconstruction
  • Neurology: ALIF (Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion); Anterior cervical fusion; Craniotomy; Kyphoplasty; Laminectomy/discectomy; Lumbar fusion; XLIF (Extreme Lateral Interbody Fusion)
  • Podiatry: Ankle fusion (required); Bunionectomy (required); Hallux vagus arthroplasty/arthrodesis (required); Metatarsal surgery (required)
  • General Surgery: Appendectomy; Cholecystectomy; Colon resection; Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical; Laparoscopic assisted procedures; Thyroidectomy partial/total; Whipple
  • Orthopedic: Arthroscopy; Carpal tunnel release; Closed reduction of fractures; Laminectomy/discectomy; Open reduction of fractures; Ortho/Spine; Spinal Fusion; Total joint replacement
  • Emergency management: Code response; Fire Safety; Latex Allergy; Malignant Hyperthermia
  • Urology: Cystectomy; Cystoscopy; Laparoscopic assisted cases; Prostatectomy; Transurethral resection of the prostate
  • Ear/Nose/Throat: Endoscopic sinus procedures; Laparoscopic assisted cases; Laryngectomy; Radical neck dissection; Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy; Tracheostomy
  • Bariatrics: Laparoscopic assisted cases
  • Thoracic: VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery) (required)
