Shift and Schedule Information
- Schedule: Day shift, three 12-hour shifts per week
- Hours: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Requirements and Skills
- Minimum of 3 years Registered Nurse experience required; 5 years preferred
- Proficiency with Epic charting system (required)
- Trauma Level I experience (required)
- Willingness and capability to travel as required (travel experience mandatory)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
- Expertise in surgical specialties including:
- Vascular Procedures: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Arteriovenous fistula repair, Carotid angioplasty, Carotid artery stenting, Carotid Endarterectomy, Femoral popliteal bypass graft
- Gynecology Procedures: Abdominal/Vaginal hysterectomy (required), Anterior/Posterior Repair (Colporrhaphy) (required), Dilation & Curettage (required)
- Plastic Surgery Procedures: Abdominoplasty, Breast augmentation, Free Flap - Microvascular, Mastectomy with TRAM flap reconstruction
- Neurology Procedures: ALIF, Anterior cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Kyphoplasty, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion, XLIF
- Trauma Care: Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, Multiple trauma from MVAs
- Podiatry Procedures: Ankle fusion (required), Bunionectomy (required), Hallux vagus arthroplasty/arthrodesis (required), Metatarsal surgery (required)
- General Surgery Procedures: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Thyroidectomy (partial/total), Whipple procedure
- Orthopedic Procedures: Arthroscopy, Carpal tunnel release, Closed and open reduction of fractures, Laminectomy/discectomy, Ortho/Spine, Spinal Fusion, Total joint replacement
- Urology Procedures: Cystectomy, Cystoscopy, Laparoscopic assisted cases, Prostatectomy, Transurethral resection of the prostate
- Robotic Surgery: Da Vinci Xi Surgical System (required), Gastrointestinal and urologic robotic surgery (required)
- ENT Procedures: Endoscopic sinus procedures, Laryngectomy, Radical neck dissection, Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, Tracheostomy
- Bariatrics: Laparoscopic assisted cases
- Thoracic Procedures: VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery) (required)
- Work settings including Ambulatory OR (required), General OR, and Trauma units
- Professional skills including administration of blood & blood products, infection control, laser and radiation safety, specimen handling and labeling, and adherence to Universal Protocol (Time out) procedure
- Familiarity with essential equipment: Cell saver (required), Electrosurgical units, Fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana Table (required)
- Emergency management skills, including code response, fire safety, latex allergy awareness, and malignant hyperthermia preparedness
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, efficient, and high-quality perioperative nursing care to surgical patients in the Operating Room environment.
- Participate actively in trauma and complex surgical cases, applying expert clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
- Utilize Epic charting system to document patient care accurately and promptly.
- Maintain compliance with infection control standards and Universal Protocols to ensure patient safety.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Manage and operate advanced surgical and robotic equipment proficiently.
- Respond to emergency situations, including codes and other acute patient care events, following established protocols.
- Educate patients and families about preoperative and postoperative care when appropriate.
- Adhere strictly to safety standards concerning laser and radiation to prevent hazards.
- Maintain certification requirements and keep abreast of advances in perioperative nursing practices.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
- Minimum of 3 years of OR nursing experience with preference for 5+ years.
- Demonstrated expertise in multiple surgical specialties and trauma care.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Proven ability to navigate trauma level I care environments successfully.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel for assignments.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
- Experience with Epic electronic health records system.
- Ability to operate complex surgical instrumentation, including robotic systems.
Compensation
Competitive hourly rate ranging from $63.00 to $74.00 based on experience and qualifications.
