Shift/Schedule
- Day Shift: 3 x 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Requirements & Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of RN experience in perioperative or trauma settings (5 years preferred)
- Proficient use of Epic charting system (required)
- Experience in Level I Trauma care (required)
- Travel experience required to effectively support diverse clinical settings
- Current BLS certification (required)
- Proficient with the following surgical specialties and procedures:
- Vascular: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Arteriovenous fistula repair, Carotid angioplasty, Carotid artery stenting, Carotid Endarterectomy, Femoral popliteal bypass graft
- Gynecology: Abdominal/Vaginal hysterectomy, Anterior/Posterior Repair (Colporrhaphy), Dilation & Curettage
- Plastics: Abdominoplasty, Breast augmentation, Free Flap - Microvascular, Mastectomy with TRAM flap reconstruction
- Neurology: ALIF, Anterior cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Kyphoplasty, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion, XLIF
- Trauma: Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds management, MVA with multiple injuries
- Podiatry: Ankle fusion, Bunionectomy, Hallux vagus arthroplasty/arthrodesis, Metatarsal surgery
- General Surgery: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Thyroidectomy (partial/total), Whipple procedure
- Orthopedics: Arthroscopy, Carpal tunnel release, Closed reduction of fractures, Laminectomy/discectomy, Open reduction of fractures, Ortho/Spine procedures, Spinal Fusion, Total joint replacement
- Urology: Cystectomy, Cystoscopy, Laparoscopic assisted cases, Prostatectomy, Transurethral resection of the prostate
- Robotics: Da Vinci Xi Surgical System, Gastrointestinal and Urologic robotic surgery
- Ear/Nose/Throat: Endoscopic sinus procedures, Laparoscopic assisted cases, Laryngectomy, Radical neck dissection, Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, Tracheostomy
- Bariatrics: Laparoscopic assisted cases
- Thoracic: VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery)
- Expertise with essential equipment and supplies including Cell Saver, Electrosurgical units, Fiber optic light sources/cords, and Hana Table
- Strong knowledge and skills in:
- Administration of blood & blood products
- Infection control protocols
- Laser and Radiation Safety
- Specimen handling and labeling procedures
- Universal Protocol (Time Out) implementation
- Emergency management such as Code response, Fire Safety, Latex Allergy management, and Malignant Hyperthermia protocols
- Experience working in Ambulatory OR (required) as well as General OR and Trauma units
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert perioperative nursing care for a broad range of surgical cases, including trauma, vascular, neurology, plastics, orthopedics, gynecology, and robotics-assisted surgeries
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and operating room staff to ensure patient safety and optimize surgical outcomes
- Ensure meticulous preparation of the operating room, surgical instruments, and equipment according to procedure requirements
- Administer blood and blood products safely while adhering to infection control and safety protocols
- Accurately document all patient care activities using the Epic electronic medical record system
- Recognize and respond immediately to emergencies such as malignant hyperthermia, code situations, and fire safety issues
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory, safety, and quality standards in the perioperative setting
- Support preoperative and postoperative patient care, including education and coordination of care plans
- Participate in continuous education and training to remain current with OR nursing best practices and technology, including robotic surgery
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California
- Minimum of 3 years perioperative/OR nursing experience with preference for 5 years
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Proficiency in Epic electronic health records system
- Strong clinical knowledge across multiple surgical specialties and advanced technology including robotics
- Demonstrated ability to perform in trauma and high-acuity situations
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
- Willingness and ability to travel as required
Compensation & Benefits
This full-time position offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $63.00 to $74.00 per hour.
