Take on a 13-week travel/contract assignment as an RN in Labor & Delivery in Torrance, CA. You’ll work nights (3x12) with guaranteed hours of 36/week, supporting antepartum, labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care in a high-acuity environment.

Requirements

• Experience: 3 years (required)
• LTAC Experience: Required
• Travel Experience: Required (2 days floor orientation)
• Previous Charge Experience: Preferred
• Patient Ratio Experience: 1:2
• Charting System: Required — Epic
• Certifications (required): ACLS, AWHONN Advanced (may take in lieu of advanced AWHONN), BLS, C-EFM
• NRP: Will take in lieu of Advanced AWHONN

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive Labor & Delivery nursing care across antepartum, labor, delivery, postpartum, and mother/baby workflows
• Provide cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Manage labor and delivery tasks including assistance with high-risk delivery, vaginal deliveries, and circulation/scrub duties for C-sections
• Support neonatal care in the delivery room, including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, ID/security banding, and neonatal resuscitation readiness
• Perform newborn assessment and support care steps such as cord care, metabolic screening, thermoregulation, and phototherapy when needed
• Provide antepartum care including NST (Non Stress Tests), OCT (Oxytocin Challenge Tests), and use of EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring)
• Triaging obstetrical patients (required) and responding appropriately to patient acuity
• Coordinate and document care using Epic
• Maintain safe infusion and medication administration practices throughout patient care

Skills You’ll Use

• IV therapy / phlebotomy: Start and maintain IVs, use infusion pumps/drips, draw venous blood, administer blood & blood products, and maintain central lines (CVC/PICC)
• Cardiac monitoring / emergency care: Adult and infant/neonatal arrest response readiness and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Labor & Delivery management: Amnioinfusion, forceps/vacuum extraction support, hemorrhage/shock support, sterile vaginal exams, sterile speculum exam for effacement/dilation/station/presentation
• Medication & administration (examples listed): Anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, antiseizure therapy, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, pitocin/oxytocin, prostaglandins, terbutaline
• Neonatal care in delivery room: APGAR scores, “baby catcher” support, cord samples, ID/security banding, neonatal resuscitation, radiant warmers/thermoregulation
• Newborn care (examples listed): Assist with circumcision site assessment post-op (required), teach circumcision care to parents, discharge teaching, infant identification, metabolic screen, NAS (Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome), newborn hypoglycemia, phototherapy, newborn assessment, thermoregulation
• Antepartum care & procedures (examples listed): Reflex checks/edema assessment/clonus; triage of obstetrical patients (required); EFM use
