NICU Registered Nurse (Day 3x12) | Apple Valley, CA

Position Details

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN) — NICU-focused

• Schedule: Day shift (3x12 hours), 6:00–18:30
• Guaranteed hours: 36 hours/week
• Pay: $56.00–$67.00/hour (hourly)

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled NICU nursing care for neonates across gestational ages, including < 24–28 weeks, 29–34 weeks, and > 34 weeks.
• Deliver evidence-based care for high-acuity conditions, including respiratory failure and isolation/PPE precautions and neonatal sepsis workup.
• Monitor and support hemodynamic status using telemetry on the unit; assist with invasive hemodynamic monitoring as needed.
• Perform and support IV therapies, including starting/maintaining IVs, arterial line management, central line/implanted line care, and central line blood draws.
• Support medication administration and neonatal emergency care, including IV vasopressors, anti-seizure medications, antibiotics/antivirals, and neonatal dosage calculations.
• Assist with advanced procedures and therapies, including APGAR scoring, developmental care interventions, therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket), and assistance with lumbar puncture.
• Provide family/patient teaching, including breastfeeding support and handling expressed breast milk.
• Document care accurately in Epic.

Requirements

• RN experience: 2 years of RN experience (or screenable with Level 4 NICU experience if under 2 years).
• Patient ratio experience: 1:2–3.
• Charting system: Epic (required).
• Community hospital experience (required).
• Travel experience (required; can screen if 2+ years NICU experience—do not screen for less).
• Certifications: BLS and NRP Advanced (NRP Advanced allowed if willing to get it prior to start).
• NICU skill/clinical experience: therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) (required).
• Respiratory experience: Vapotherm (required) and chest tube management (required).
• Respiratory medication experience: Nitric Oxide (Ino) (required).
• Medication experience: administration of conscious sedation (required).
• Required patient care experience: attend high risk deliveries (required), Mother/Baby (required), NICU III (required), NICU IV (required).
• Required GI experience: gastroschisis/omphalocele (required).
• Required endocrine/metabolic experience: insulin administration (required).
• Additional skill: manage PICC lines.
• IV/access skills: administration of blood & blood products (required), arterial line management, central line blood draw, central line/implanted line care, starting/maintaining IVs, UAC (umbilical arterial catheter), UVC (umbilical vein catheter).
