Responsibilities
Provide direct perioperative nursing care and support across a wide range of surgical services
Apply infection control practices and support safe clinical processes during surgical procedures
Maintain universal protocol (time out) and support correct specimen handling/labeling
Support safe medication and therapy workflows, including administration of blood & blood products
Follow safety procedures related to laser and radiation safety during applicable cases
Respond effectively in emergency situations as needed, including code response and fire safety protocols
Coordinate and operate within the assigned work environment(s), including ambulatory OR coverage when required
Requirements

Charting system: Epic (required)
Trauma Level I experience (required)
Travel experience (required)
BLS (required)
Ambulatory OR work setting (required)
Vascular: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Arteriovenous fistula repair, Carotid angioplasty, Carotid artery stenting, Carotid Endarterectomy, Femoral popliteal bypass graft (listed to support coverage)
Gynecology: Abdominal/ Vaginal hysterectomy (required), Anterior/Posterior Repair (Colporrhaphy) (required), Dilation & Curettage (required)
Podiatry: Ankle fusion (required), Bunionectomy (required), Hallux vagus arthroplasty/arthrodesis (required), Metatarsal surgery (required)
Robotics: Da Vinci Xi Surgical System (required), Gastrointestinal robotic surgery (required), Urologic robotic surgery (required)
Thoracic: VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery) (required)
Equipment/Instrumentation/Supplies: Cell saver (required), Hana Table (required)
Emergency management exposure including Code response and Fire Safety, plus knowledge for Latex Allergy and Malignant Hyperthermia (as applicable)
Trauma coverage readiness: Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, MVA (multiple injuries)
General surgical case familiarity including Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical, Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Thyroidectomy partial/total, Whipple
Orthopedic/Ortho-Spine readiness including Arthroscopy, Carpal tunnel release, Closed reduction of fractures, Open reduction of fractures, Laminectomy/discectomy, Ortho/Spine, Spinal Fusion, Total joint replacement
Neurology readiness including ALIF (Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion), Anterior cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Kyphoplasty, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion, XLIF (Extreme Lateral Interbody Fusion)
Urology readiness including Cystectomy, Cystoscopy, Laparoscopic assisted cases, Prostatectomy, Transurethral resection of the prostate
Ear/Nose/Throat readiness including Endoscopic sinus procedures, Laparoscopic assisted cases, Laryngectomy, Radical neck dissection, Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, Tracheostomy
Bariatrics familiarity including Laparoscopic assisted cases
