About This Position

Join our team as a Registered Nurse (RN - General) in Anchorage, AK on a 13-week Travel/Contract assignment in Labor and Delivery. This is a Night (3x12 Hours) schedule with guaranteed 36 hours per week—apply through Quick2Hire to start your next L&D shift.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Labor & Delivery, including assisting with high-risk delivery and supporting vaginal delivery workflow
  • Perform and support required procedures across antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum care
  • Provide fetal monitoring support, including recognition and response to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns using external and internal fetal monitoring methods
  • Support triage of obstetrical patients and apply appropriate monitoring during labor progression
  • Prepare for and assist with cesarean support activities, including circulating and recovery responsibilities
  • Administer and monitor labor medications and therapies as indicated for obstetrical patients, including magnesium sulfate therapy and other ordered medications
  • Deliver neonatal care in the delivery room, including APGAR scoring support and neonatal stabilization responsibilities such as neonatal resuscitation
  • Support newborn assessment and newborn hypoglycemia processes as required, including thermoregulation support
  • Provide postpartum care and education support, including breastfeeding/lactation support and discharge teaching to parents
  • Manage infection control practices using Isolation Precautions/PPE
  • Use Epic for charting documentation
  • Maintain safe IV therapy and blood product administration workflows, including infusion pump/drip monitoring
  • Support surgical and procedural needs related to obstetrics, as assigned
  • Assist with pain management support for labor patients, including epidural/anesthesia workflows when required
  • Provide patient care across common L&D populations and acuities, including multiple gestation and pregnancy-induced conditions
  • Support procedures such as sterile vaginal exams, sterile speculum exams, NSTs (Non Stress Tests), and reflex/edema/clonus assessments as indicated

  • Epic charting system experience: required
  • Charge experience: preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience: preferred
  • Travel experience: not required
  • Certifications required: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, NRP
  • Amnioinfusion capability: required
  • C-section readiness responsibilities: scrub for C-section: required; assist/circulate for C-section: required; recover C-section: required
  • Neonatal and delivery-room support responsibilities: neonatal resuscitation capability, APGAR scoring support, collect cord samples, and ID/security banding
  • Newborn care responsibilities: assist with circumcision/assess site post-op: required; cord care: required; discharge teaching to parents: required; newborn assessment; newborn hypoglycemia: required; thermoregulation: required
  • Postpartum care responsibilities: bladder distension: required; postpartum hemorrhage readiness; pregnancy induced hypertension readiness
  • Breastfeeding support responsibilities: breastfeeding support/lactation support: required; use of electric/manual breast pump: required
  • Medication/protocol readiness: magnesium sulfate therapy, insulin drips, pitocin/oxytocin, terbutaline, antihypertensives
  • IV therapy/related responsibilities: drawing venous blood, starting and maintaining IVs, use of infusion pumps/drips/IV monitoring
  • Blood product responsibilities: administration of blood & blood products: required
  • Surgical/procedural responsibilities: cervical cerclage, D&C support
  • Pain management support: general anesthesia: required; nitrous oxide: required; epidural anesthesia support
  • Obstetrical acuity readiness: pre-eclampsia/eclampsia (required), premature rupture of membranes (required), preterm labor (required), VBAC management/trial of labor (required), multiple gestation (required)
  • EFM support: use of EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring) and internal/external fetal monitoring support
  • Vaccine administration: required
